This fortress is truly amazing. I’m in awe of how the ancient builders constructed it 500 meters above sea level. The climb up was quite challenging due to the steep terrain. (I decided not to take the funicular) Once I reached the panoramic viewpoint, I wished I could stay as long as I wanted, as the view was absolutely breathtaking. The entrance fee is definitely worth the experience.
OH MY GOSH THE VIEW!!! 🤩 You go up either with stairs or the tram, and then climb some other steps to get to the top. We listened to a Mozart concert, and it was lovely. The sunset from the castle wall was beautiful. If you are ever in Salzburg, do yourself a favor and come here!
Great old castle to wonder around for a couple of hours. The cafe has a commanding view of Salzburg. There is a gift shop with a nice variety of options for everyone on your list. Inside is a nice exhibit that shows the various phases of construction throughout the centuries.
Really neat place to visit - so beautiful as it sits on top of the hill. You can buy tickets to hop a ride up and at the top they have a smaller Christmas market (we went in December) a few restaurants and a great view! Definitely worth a visit!
Views of the city are fantastic from here. You start at the bottom and use the cars to climb the mountain which offers a great view on the climb up. Once you leave the carts you’re in the grounds plenty to see and do
