Visited due to being in the area and seeing it was the garden from Sound of music. Not seen the film but if there why not grab a photo. Flowers not In bloom but could imagine how fantastic it would look when it’s the right time. Definitely worth a visit if there.
Honestly, this is a very small garden with nothing really special about it. Its only advantage is that it is located between the train station and the old town of Salzburg and you inevitably walk past it. And we visited it during Wintertime, meaning there were no flowers and the fountains were off.
Mirabellgarten in Salzburg, Austria, is a gorgeous, historic garden that feels like a fairy tale come to life. Known from The Sound of Music, it’s full of vibrant flowers, statues, and fountains, with stunning views of Salzburg Fortress in the background. Perfect for strolling, photos, or simply relaxing, it’s a must-see for visitors.
While the movie may have drawn us to the location, it was the garden that was the star. Beautiful, well cared for garden that we returned to twice on our trip to Salzburg. A very peaceful location, even with hundreds of tourists roaming around. The flowers are beautiful, and there are so many camera shots that can be identified from The Sound of Music. There are benches located where you can sit and rest, reflect, or just enjoy the views.
We came across to walk through the river. I think the garden is beautiful in the summer, but I come in the Autumn. All the trees will change to Snow season.
