Reviews
An incredibly cool and modern museum with so much to see that we couldn’t fit it all into our visit. The view from the top is absolutely stunning! The MönchsbergAufzug Lift, which is included in the Salzburg Card, is a fantastic option. Unfortunately, we only discovered it after walking up, but the walk was quick and easy. The only downside is the lockers requiring coins – a more modern solution would be great
What a find! You wouldn't know it was there from the outside, take the lift up to the top, and admire the incredible view over Salzburg. We sat in the restaurant for a couple of hours just taking in the vista. A choice of menus, anything from coffee and a pastry to a full meal and an alcoholic drink. The staff are so lovely and speak various languages. Definitely recommend and the art works were pretty good too.
Interesting self-guided tour of Mozart’s birthplace. Lovely photos and paintings of his family, and fascinating insight into his life. It does get a bit crowded with in certain rooms. Pictured here is Mozart’s first violin (age 6!).
Brutalist architecture was very much a part of the view from my hotel window, so I had to go up and see what it was all about. I found little that resonated to me. The building itself should have more potential of taking in light. The rooms were as bunker like as the exterior. But people should judge for themselves.
The problem is that this museum doesn’t seem to have a permanent exhibition - it relies on these temporary exhibits. And if they’re not good, then everything is not good. It was absolutely terrible as of this review. Not worth a single dollar. The view is nice, but you don’t have to go away up there for a view. The building itself is quite nice and very accessible.
