Altstadt Vienna

I have never stayed in a lovelier hotel. They have mastered the art of hospitality. From the moment you enter until the moment you leave, you feel welcomed and cared for. The breakfast is a smorgasbord of breads, meats, cheeses, porridge. You can order any type of egg. The coffee was superb. The room was comfortable and each room was different than the next. The bed was comfortable as were the pillows. Each day you can come back to the hotel for tea time. This was one of my favorites. They had tea, cakes, and candy. If you needed recommendations for things to do the front desk was always ready and willing to help. By far...they go beyond the regular hotel standards.

An incredible place to stay in Vienna. A huge thank you to Sarah and the rest of the staff for their hospitality, kindness, and attention to detail. The rooms were immaculate and each have their own unique design. We loved the breakfast (especially the smoked salmon, including a vegetarian option) and the tea time, which featured a different, delicious cake each day. The tea time was so good that we found ourselves changing our plans to make it back to the hotel just to have it -- it was a welcome break from walking all over Vienna, and to refresh before dinner. The location is incredible as well. The Neubau neighbourhood is quiet and lovely, and just a few minutes' walk away from the nearest metro and tram lines. I also really appreciate their commitment to sustainability. From the breakfast to the rooms service, important (but not intrusive) measures are taken to ensure that nothing is wasteful. I cannot recommend the Altstadt enough. We will always remember our stay with them and cannot wait to return in the future.

I am so confused about the positive reviews of this hotel. At best it’s Airbnb level for a 20 something. No bell person to meet us. Our first room had a scaffold outside and was super noisy. We’ve been moved to a room that is better than the first, but the furniture is similar to IKEA. Creative use of color. The bones of the building are great with high ceilings and lovely doors. The hallways are nicked with scratches all over. There are containers of air freshener in the hallways in an attempt to disguise the musty smell of the building. Dirt in all the corners. The bathroom has really cool tile but there isn’t even enough space to put one’s razor. This room Is not comfortable for two adults other than the king size bed. The nightstand lights are cheap and I’ve inadvertently knocked it over trying to plug in my phone charger. Wildly disappointing. We’d rather cut our trip short than stay here.

Nice quiet location but still really close to many sights either walking or with transit. The room was great, and the heated floors in the bathroom were a lovely surprise! The breakfast was fantastic. They even had a selection of gluten free bread.

This would be the first hotel I stay at again in Vienna. The breakfast is outstanding in the salon. High quality, fresh and all organic ingredients and tons of diversity. Great coffee and really amazing pastries during afternoon tea. The shower was incredible, the room was spacious and clean, and well stocked. There's some construction out front which kind of ruins the views and the vibe a bit but the general location of the hotel is great. The front desk staff go above and beyond and made our stay absolutely fantastic.
