Blaue Bar

Just finished seeing an opera at the Vienna State Opera and looking for a drink and found The Blaue Bar. Reservations are recommended but the maître d’ found us a table just outside in the red room. We were so pleased we went back a second time when it was quieter and had drinks at the Blaue Bar too. The Blue room decor is spectacular with blue surroundings. The red room is likewise beautifully decorated in red. The service was impeccable - friendly and attentive, evening when it was extremely busy. The cocktails were tasty, especially the champagne cocktail. the free snacks a welcome treat.

I really enjoyed my time at Blaue Bar. The place is beautiful, the drinks are great, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Jacob, one of the staff members, was especially lovely—very friendly and attentive. The only downside was one male staff member with glasses who seemed a bit unwelcoming. Overall, still a great spot and definitely worth visiting.

Situated inside Sacher hotel. Blaue Bar is Vienna's most elegant indigo bar. You will feel like you walked into a dream. Cozy atmosphere with nostalgic charm. Their menu is diverse. I went with the Hemingway & the Kiwi la Vie. Both were exquisite. The Hemingway was refreshing with a hint of grapefruit. The Kiwi la Vie has a tiki/island essence. Jacob was a fantastic host. He's personable & attentive. Sophia was helpful too. The bartender (didn't get his name) is highly skilled. He delivered promptly with great cocktails during the post dinner rush. This bar fills up fast esp after a ballet since it's nearby the Opera house. Do make reservations to ensure a seat. It's a one of a kind experience. 💎🍸 Bonus: They have a food menu 🍰 & a coat check area near the front entrance. Galena (at coat check) was nice to chat with. Impeccable service from staff. 🫶

Every detail invites you to slow down and truly enjoy the experience. The cocktails are exceptional—crafted with great skill, balance, and respect for classic techniques. Service is attentive without being intrusive, adding to the overall sense of refinement and comfort. Blaue Bar is not simply a place to have a drink, but a place to experience Vienna’s cultural depth in a quiet, sophisticated way. I love this bar — my absolute favorite in Vienna. So far, I’ve always managed to get a seat. The bar is very small, but that’s exactly what gives it its charm. The staff is fantastic, and the service is excellent — exactly what you’d expect from Sacher. The Sacher torte was very good, as always. The cappuccino with oat milk was solid. American Express is accepted.
