Café Engländer

The food is excellent, but don't get fooled by the name. It's a restaurant, not really a café. Place gets jammed easily and can get really really loud sometimes. It feels like an elite place sometimes. Prices quite above average and in typical Austrian fashion you may have to wait a bit before a waiter notices your existence.

This place is very popular with locals not only because of its location! They have great desserts and traditional dishes and the place itself is quite cosy too!

Location: close to everything yet protected from the hustle and bustle of everything, thanks to its being nestled in a tiny alley. The afternoon crowd is dominantly folks in business attire, with a few tables of casual diners mingled in. Pared-down decor. Soothingly simple in a town of over-the-top flourishes in late baroque/ rococo style. Attentive service. Yes, recommended.

Had a Viennese breakfast and a healthy breakfast and the food was very good. I was full all day. We are both English and LGBT and the waiters were super friendly and welcoming. We were given English menus also. Wasn’t busy so had lots of space and didn’t feel rushed at all

Food was good, vintage Austrian cafe, we had breakfast. The coffee Late was hot and delicious. We had English breakfast. We ordered a chocolate crepe but we got apricot crepe instead. Delicious though.
