Reviews
We went to Vienna post Christmas and the reservation of all restaurants were already sold out! Surprisingly this place was the only option available and I booked it without any second thoughts! This place was crowded when we arrived and they had already reserved a table for us and we were directly taken to that without any wait time. The ambience was good with a kind of 1980ish experience. We ordered a egg benedict, Beef goulash with bread and coffee. The egg Benedict was ok-ish, the sauce was bland and the bread not so soft and tasty. The beef goulash was not good, felt that the meat was undercooked! We also ordered another main course that came with sausage, bread and mustard sauce, which were just okish. The coffee was good! The view from the hotel was laid back and good too. What I didn't like was the service, we called a staff for some immediate attention. He saw us and ignored and went away, as he was not taking care of our table. May be it is just a Viennese coffee culture, but I felt very bad!
A Classic Vienese Cafe. The Cafe has Wonderful food and a lovely old world atmosphere and very nice traditional Austrian fare. The Staff were very polite, and accommodating to Tourists speaking English. Their Desserts looked amazing. It is also a great spot to sit and watch the people in the city walk by. If you are in Vienna, on the inner city RingRoad, stop in for their food and drinks !
Lovely cafe with decent cakes & coffee. We went for breakfast and it was fine, nothing amazing. We got the Trufflé torte and Maronischnitte which was delicious. Waiter was very friendly. Tips are not automatically included. ✨Amazing atmosphere, staff will let you sit and enjoy your meal without bothering you, so you can enjoy the "Vienesse" experience which is to relax and enjoy being present at the moment. Recommendation to reserve in advance.
Swashenberg is a normal coffee shop, nothing bad, but nothing that really stands out either. The place itself is quite big, and the vibe feels okay. It’s comfortable enough, and honestly, I really liked the bathrooms, they were cute and nicely done. The food is good, but there’s one thing you should know: if you order something like eggs and bacon, they don’t include bread on the side like most other places in Vienna do. You have to ask for it, and since they toast it fresh, it takes a bit. That was the only downside, because by the time the toast came, our eggs were already getting cold. So if you go, make sure to ask for toast right away. When we arrived, there was a sign outside saying to wait for the hostess or a waiter to come get you. We waited for a while, and during that time other people went in and were seated before us. Eventually the hostess came out and took us in, but the service overall felt a little distracted, not rude, just not well coordinated. The food itself was alright: basic eggs and bacon. The coffee was okay too. Nothing amazing, nothing memorable. It’s a decent place to have breakfast or a coffee if you’re nearby, but not somewhere I feel like I need to go back to or highly recommend. If you do go, just remember: ask for the toast right when you order.
