DOOR No. 8 – The Steakhouse

An excellent meal at his steakhouse. We received a warm welcome on arrival and seating in a lovely spot. The place was decorated for the festive season and was warm and cosy. We loved all the dishes selected and our steaks were cooked to perfection. Warming, the starters are large, so order accordingly. One point to observe, one of the steaks is only served medium but was more medium rare. This wasn’t an issue for us, but be aware. Service was great, professional, efficient and always with a smile. My only negative was the wine selection. For a steakhouse the red selection was very disappointing and very limited.

We had a the greatest dinner. We took the ribeye steak, the flat iron, the porterhouse and the tartar. The meat was heavenly tender and full of taste. Thanks to Nick for the service and to Davits for welcoming us in.

Loved the ambience of this restaurant - from the lighting through the different zones with a distinct character to the open kitchen which greets you on the way in. The service was top notch too - very attentive and corteous. As for the steak... 🥩 We had mixed impressions. We loved some of the pieces - the Door No8 Special cut and the rumpsteak were marvelous but others not so much - Filet tips and flank steak. We tried two types of red wine by the glass and these were not great either. Maybe we'll try the burgers next time, they looked great.

The service deserves special mention: the staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about what they serve. They are happy to guide you through the menu, recommend cuts and sides, and ensure you feel completely taken care of throughout your visit. The star of the show, of course, is the steak. DOOR No. 8 uses a sous-vide technique followed by an ultra-hot sear, which results in steaks that are perfectly tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The accompaniments are more than afterthoughts — creative sides, fresh seasonal offerings, and rich sauces complement the meat beautifully. The ambience rounds out the experience. Whether indoors under soft lighting and modern décor, or outdoors in their leafy courtyard oasis, the setting is elegant yet comfortable. Prices are on the higher side, but the quality justifies it. For anyone seeking one of Vienna’s finest steak experiences, DOOR No. 8 is an easy recommendation.

Great food and even better service. Highly recommend the beef tartare. The deconstructed beef wellington was an experience although personally I would have just preferred the traditional version. Cocktails were fantastic. Would highly recommend a visit.
