Reviews
A Longtime Favorite in Vienna – Mixed Feelings This Time During my routine trips to Vienna since 2016, I’ve always made a point to visit this restaurant. Unfortunately, during my most recent visit, the schnitzel I had was disappointing. However, the potato salad and soup were, as always, impeccable. Back in March, I had their potato soup, which was absolutely delightful. This time (November 24), I opted for the beetroot soup, and I highly recommend trying it if it’s on the menu. In my previous visits, I’ve also tried their goulash and fish dishes, both of which were consistently delicious. The place, which used to feel more like a local gem, has gradually become a hotspot for tourists. If you’re dining solo, you might still find a seat without a reservation, but I wouldn’t leave it to chance. They do take reservations over the phone. Since the restaurant isn’t very large, the number of tables is limited. If you’re open to sitting at the bar, you’ll likely find a spot more quickly. The staff might respond a bit firmly if you push too hard for a table, as the seating capacity is understandably limited. However, apart from that, they are very friendly and do their best to ensure you have an enjoyable dining experience. Despite the slight disappointment with the schnitzel, the soups and other dishes remain excellent, making this restaurant worth a visit!
Excellent. Everything we ate was delicious and reasonable priced. Gulasch was perfectly spiced and came with different breads (15-16€), wiener veal schnitzel was thin, nicely crunchy breaded (25€) and the butter veal with mash potatoe was amazingly soft and fine (19-20€). Kaiseramcharn was top (10 €) and the chocolate desert (9€) was made with really good, rich chocolate. Service was amazing too. Very authentic and super friendly. Thanks! Just the space is a bit tight and benches may could have some seat cushions. But on the other hand, it's giving it the rustic, historical feeling.
We were warmly received and sat. Christophe our waiter was a great server. Service with a smile and was very friendly and asked us repeatedly if all was good. We shared the Caesar salad which was ok but the Wiener schnitzel was delicious and the roasted veal was the best veal I’ve ever had. So tasty and buttery. A very enjoyable meal with excellent service. Nice and quaint. Highly recommended.
Authentic Austrian cuisine slightly modernized. The boiled beef was the highlight of the evening as well as the sliced potatoes that came as a side to the fried chicken livers. Everything here was tasty and service was fast. Recommend booking.
Don’t come here anymore!!!! If you used to love this place be ready to be disappointed. Wow how downhill this place has gone, normally a renovation can be great but this place lost all its character, the food was sub par (not bad by any means but no where near how good it used to be, don’t bother with the schnitzel you can find better anywhere else), and to top it off the service was abysmal. Some of the rudest waiters I have ever experienced and soooo contrasted by the place called Francis down the road who had the loveliest people there ever. In particular this man was in unbelievably rude, perhaps because our German was quite broken but still.
