Recommended by local friends to dine in this for authentic Austrian food and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Tried almost everything on the menu. The fried chicken was juicy and veal head was also really good. Favourite was the soupy dish with austrian “pancake” noodles strips and the chestnuty soup (sorry my austrian friends did the ordering). The owners were really hospitable and the whole place was really cosy. Would recommend other tourist to come.
I love the home-like atmosphere, the pale pastels, sud-dues light and the hearty Austrian dishes. The decor is unique and so subtle. The poor knight with cranberry sauce lives in my head rent free.
worst food I’ve ever eaten. We had the fillet of perch with pumpkin risotto and spaetzle with scrambled eggs. The only thing that had taste was the risotto and keep in mind I said TASTE, no salt no nothing. The fish tasted like nothing as well. The spaetzle was tasteless and had an eggshell in it; when mentioned AFTER paying the waitress said “things like this can happen” Crazy expensive for what we got.
I'm really confused as to why this is Michelin recommended, especially thinking about the kinds of restaurants that are Michelin recommended in my hometown of Montreal. There's just no comparison to be made. Despite the restaurant offering a nice atmosphere, and the service being relatively good (there was one woman serving the whole restaurant, so keep that in mind), the food was average. It wasn't bad, but also not great. Maybe this is the best Michelin could find in Vienna, and Austrian cuisine just isn't very elaborate, I'm not sure, but it's definitely not for me.
