Impromptu visit with no prior knowledge of what to expect - was an hour & half of enjoyable visual aesthetic discovery with considerable "wow" factor with the ornate grandeur of the Lower palace itself. Almost missed Hall of Grotesques leading to inner Marble Gallery & the richly gilded Gold Cabinet which was once Prince Eugene's bedchamber. This lead onto the Museum Longmatt collection of impressionist works of Cezanne, Monet & Renoir & the Palace stables with the medieval & Renaissance art. All this is on the far left of entry hall - where you can also buy entry tix & has the gift shop. "More than Character Heads" exhibition was also really good with amusing bust caricatures. Is 1.5 hours enough? Of course not! But this is all I could spare unfortunately- so it was a whizz through. Visit was prior to Xmas few weeks ago. Cloak room & toilets are in the basement. You can enter Lower Level from the rear street & walk through the back entry doors. I purchased my tix onsite - timed entry but Lower level is not as busy as upper level Belvedere.

It’s just okay, yes, you have the kiss by Klimt and a couple other masterpieces but that’s about it. Their artist selection is very limited to austrian painters. Which is fine, but not worth the price you’re paying. Honestly I expected more from it. Would I recommend it? Only if you’re deeply passioned for Klimt. Nice garden btw

Built in the early 18th century at the request of Prince Eugene of Savoy and designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt, this palace was originally used as the prince’s actual residential palace. Today, it operates as part of the Belvedere Museum, together with the Orangerie and the Prunkstall (former stables). The palace still preserves many of its lavishly decorated Baroque interiors, and it now focuses mainly on temporary exhibitions. Access to the Orangerie and the Prunkstall is only possible through the Lower Belvedere. ※ Included in the Bundesmuseen Card.

Wunderschön! Breathtaking gardens and Upper/Lower Palaces. The interiors are primarily art galleries with some of the World's greatest works. Included are Monet, Pisaro, Renoir, Cezanne, etc. In the upper palace are modern art such as Gustav Klimt & many others. TIP: many visitors miss the Impressionists Gallery in the Stables building. At the very end of the gallery, behind a screen wall is a MARVELOUS short film on the primary donor.

The impressionist paintings installation in the Lower Belvedere is really worth visiting. Amazing works including Pissarro, Renoir and Monet. The place was not too crowded, so you could stare at the artworks in peace. This was a highlight of the whole Belvedere visit.
