St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna is an absolutely extraordinary place! Its Gothic architecture is breathtaking, and the colorful roof with rhomboid patterns is one of the symbols of the city. The interior of the cathedral makes a huge impression - high vaults, richly decorated altars and a mysterious atmosphere make it a must-see in Vienna. It is also worth climbing the tower, from where there is a beautiful view of the city. The history of this place and numerous legends give it an additional charm. I highly recommend it! One of the most famous legends tells about the builder of the cathedral, master Hans Puchsbaum. According to the story, Hans wanted to build the highest and most beautiful tower in Europe. Unfortunately, he could not find a way to complete the construction. Then the devil appeared and offered help - in return, Hans was to promise that he would never mention the name of God. The builder agreed and the work began in full swing. When the tower was almost finished, Hans saw his beloved from a distance, who was praying for his soul. In a fit of emotion, he uttered the name of God, thus breaking his pact with the devil. At that moment, he lost his balance and fell from the scaffolding, dying instantly. It is said that to this day, in the night hours, you can hear his groans among the Gothic arches of the cathedral.
