Reviews
Alcron Restaurant in Prague is truly exceptional, blending sophisticated atmosphere with world-class hospitality. While known for elegance, their vegetarian dishes stole the show—the crispy potato and fried cauliflower were absolute highlights, alongside a phenomenal beef tartare. Our experience was elevated by the incredible service; our waitress, Lisa, was extremely helpful with her spot-on recommendations. We loved it so much that we returned for a second visit!
Visited this restaurant expecting a fine dining experience, but it turned out to be below average. We tried several courses and the steak was the best dish and negroni was the best cocktail we had. However, note that the steak price depends on the portion size you are served, so the price listed on the menu can be misleading. We had a 9:30 pm reservation, yet at 10:15 pm we were told that they were closing since we were the only guests left, which made us feel rushed. The atmosphere was quite gloomy and uninviting. Overall, not a place I would recommend.
Disappointing Christmas Eve Dinner We dined here on December 24th and, unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected for such a special evening. Service Issues: Many guests, including ourselves, were seated in a space close to the hotel lobby. It looked like we were seated in a corridor. The service was extremely slow. It took 1 hour and 15 minutes just to receive an amuse-bouche. Throughout the evening, servers seemed overwhelmed and disorganized. They repeatedly poured still water into glasses where we had sparkling water, and vice versa. (You can clearly see the separation on the photo attached) One server, though friendly, kept visiting our table without saying anything and ended the service looking disheveled. Another server even started limping by the end of the night. Food Quality: The amuse-bouche was more of a “mouth rinse” just a mushroom juice. It was good but weirdly served in a cup of coffee which created some confusion at the beginning of the dinner. The fish soup was served cold, as was the next course. The fried fish was reminiscent of a supermarket frozen meal, and the dish was lukewarm at best. We had to ask for bread, and the butter never arrived. Organization: The restaurant blamed the slow service on a “rush” in the kitchen, even though the dining room emptied over time. For a fixed menu on Christmas Eve, with reservations only, this can’t be an excuse. The coat check lost a guest’s glove, and at the end of the night, staff asked guests to come retrieve their own coats because they couldn’t find them. Positive Note: Despite all these issues, the staff remained friendly throughout the evening. We were offered a 5% discount and complimentary coffee at the end of the meal, which was a small gesture of goodwill. And we had a good time because we preferred to laugh rather then crying about it! Conclusion: While the staff’s friendliness and the small discount were appreciated, the overall experience was disappointing. The food was cold, the service chaotic, and the organization lacking, especially for a Christmas Eve dinner.
SERVICE – When I was about to pay, I added a tip and clearly said “3.” After completing the payment, I noticed that “8” was entered on the bill, meaning I was charged an extra 500 CZK. There was no background noise or any other reason that could explain this misunderstanding. Also, if you are not sure you ask again and you show the pos to the client, always! When I stood up to address the issue, the staff member was extremely quick to refund the money, which gave me the impression that he was aware of what he had done. Additionally, the sommelier was quite pushy when recommending wines and suggested options that were not listed on the menu, without clearly stating their prices by himself. In a former Michelin-starred restaurant located in a five-star hotel, this type of service should not be happening guys. I think you can do much better. FOOD was generally good, we got tartare - sheep cheese wrapped in chocolate - salmon trout - ravioli - chocolate pavè and we like them all.
We had the pleasure of celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary here. We had eaten at Noma only two weeks prior so know what an exceptional restaurant can do. I had done a fair bit of research to find the right restaurant in Prague as my wife is a vegetarian and I wanted the meal to be special, and special it was. Simon attended to us and every single dish he served us was as good as what we ate at Noma. The service is impeccable, both in timing of food, and friendliness of the staff, I watched and they provided this level of service for every diner near us. It is not Michelin starred, but it should be, get in quick before it is and the meal prices go up to match the standard of food they serve. My only regret is that we live on the other side of the world and we can’t be regular patrons
