The church presented a visually stunning spectacle. Its architectural design was remarkable, featuring intricate details, vibrant paintings, and stained glass windows illustrating numerous religious narratives. On Christmas Eve, the atmosphere was solemn yet serene, with the choir's music creating a reverent ambiance. Approximately 500 attendees gathered for a service of prayer and song, fostering a sense of communal worship. The interior of the church displayed an aesthetic sophistication reminiscent of a museum. Frauenkirche, with its twin onion-domed towers, is one of Munich’s most recognizable landmarks and a must-visit for anyone exploring the city. This Gothic cathedral is not only an architectural masterpiece but also a symbol of Munich’s history and resilience. Inside, the church is striking in its simplicity, with high vaulted ceilings and minimal decoration that create a sense of grandeur and tranquility. One of its most famous features is the “Devil’s Footprint” near the entrance—a mysterious legend that adds an intriguing touch to the visit.
Really nice church to visit. It has a large vaulted ceiling with the usual religious adornments. The left hand side of the church was getting refurbished during our visit in November but it was well disguised. There is access to the South tower for €7.50 (correct as of Nov. 2024). Then 90 steps up a winding staircase, thankfully there is a lift to take you to the top to an enclosed room with windows all around where you get views over the city. On a good day you can see the Alps.
Nice Catholic Church to visit. It’s always fun reading up on the history of these churches. For a tourist, it’s worth walking in to view. Very iconic from the exterior with its two domes.
The church is a little plain inside but has a decent history with several famous individuals buried here and a few small chapels are worth wandering through. (It's also nice for resting your legs for a few minutes!)
