Odeonsplatz is one of Munich’s most beautiful and historically significant squares, offering a perfect blend of architecture, history, and city life. Flanked by the striking yellow Theatine Church and the grand Feldherrnhalle, the square has an unmistakable Italian influence, inspired by Roman and Florentine designs. This spacious plaza is a great place to take in Munich’s atmosphere, whether you’re admiring the buildings, people-watching, or enjoying a stroll toward the nearby Hofgarten. It also has deep historical significance, as it was the site of key events in Bavarian and German history, including the 1923 Beer Hall Putsch.
Very nicely maintained. Generally crowded during weekends. Mostly its a walking zone, bicycles are allowed, taxi upto main road. Tram and U bahn operates here.
A large public square framed by the historic Hofgarten gardens and the Theatinerkirche cathedral. It's a great place for meeting up before heading downtown (or for watching groups of tourists). There are various markets, protests and concerts taking place throughout the year, but the square stays empty most of the time.
The amount of artwork and decorations in this amazing church is insane! It is so beautiful. If you want to check every detail here, then you could spend all day. Also, sitting here quietly and enjoying the place while resting your feet if, you have been walking a lot like me, makes ypu feel at peace. Loved this church.
Go early in the morning and you will have it to yourself! We walked through here in the morning heading to the English garden and when we returned later there was a festival of some type. Nice plaza and architecture to check out
