It is a pleasant area. Because of Christmas market activities, you couldn’t really see the Tor/Gate so well. Will say that Glühwein over by the tram stop where people get tickets for the Christmas Tram is the best I‘ve tasted this year.
Sendlinger Tor is a historical landmark located in München, Germany, known for its medieval architecture and significance as a former city gate.

Sendlinger Tor is one of Munich’s historic gates and a great spot to experience the lively atmosphere of the city center. This medieval structure feels like a bridge between old and new Munich – you can sense both at the same time. With many cafés, restaurants, and shops nearby, it’s an ideal place to take a historical break and continue exploring the city. In the evening, the gate is beautifully illuminated, adding to its charm. For those who love romance, a nighttime walk here is highly recommended – it’s a very safe place, so there’s no need to worry. And of course, don’t forget to take a few photos before you leave! Wishing you a wonderful trip! ✌️
Nice place to visit close to downtown and underground station with the same name. Good pedesteian walks to downtown and all kinds of shops nearby. We had some lunch near. There is a lot of historic places to visit in the surroundings. Another place to add if you visit downtown Munich.
Very old original gate into the city during the 1300s. As you get closer to Christmas, there are stalls set up around it.
There are a few restaurants / shops around, good underground connection, soon a Christmas market, connects to one of the biggest shopping streets. Nice place to grab a cuppa & do some shopping
