Mermaid – (Nína Sæmundsdóttir)

This is a bronze of a mermaid situated in Lake Tjornin. It is the work of Icelandic sculptor Nína Sæmundsson (1948) and seems to have been moved to several locations around the lake over the years. However, now it rests in its original location in the lake waters. What you see is a typical depiction of a mermaid sitting upon a rock, seeking to lure in fisherman with her beauty. Worth a look-see if you are viewing the statues and various installations around the lake and Hljómskálagarður Park.

A mermaid sculpture. Not sure if this is somehow reminiscent of the mermaid in Copenhagen.

This beautiful statue caught my eye during a walk in the park at sunrise. 🌅 glad to see the city is prideful about their monuments and parks being so clean. It was a wonderful place to go for a walk.
