Each region has its saints. It is all the more surprising when saints untypical for the region appear in it. This is also the case here: the patron saint of Augsburg, St. Ulrich, who appears rather rarely in the Waldviertel, can be seen. Today exhibited in the
#ErstenÖsterreichischesMuseumFürAlltagskunde, the figure, together with a figure of St. Nicholas (second figure) from the same workshop, was found in a chapel in Reichhalms, which no longer exists today. However, it is assumed that they were originally made for the church in Altpölla, for which an altar for St. Ulrich can be traced. Both figures are made of wood, show remnants of original paint and are dated to around 1480/90. These two objects prove: a visit to small local museums always pays off!
